Redmi launched the Redmi 8 in India today. The Redmi 8 is the successor to the Redmi 7 that launched in the country earlier this year. As per the specs are concerned, the Redmi 8 appears to be almost similar to the Redmi 8A that launched in India last month. The Redmi 8 is slightly expensive than the Redmi 8A.
Redmi 8 specifications
The Redmi 8 comes packed with a 6.22-inch full-screen display. The phone comes with an HD+ IPS display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. The Redmi 8 is powered by the same processor that runs the Redmi 8A. The phone comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
The Redmi 8 comes with two cameras on the back panel and single on the front. The selfie camera sits inside the Dot drop notch on the front. The Redmi 8 comes with a main 12MP Sony363 sensor with Dual PD and a secondary 2MP depth sensor. On the front the Redmi 8 includes 8MP shooter that comes paired with lots of AI -- AI portrait mode. The phone also includes FM Radio with built-in antenna.
One of the key highlights of the Redmi 8 is its battery. The Redmi 8 comes packed with a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The Redmi 8 includes -- USB Type C, Dual SIM card slot, dedicated microSD card slot (up to 512GB), 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 4.2, P2i nano-coating, among others.
Price :
The Redmi 8 launches in India at price starting at Rs 7,999. This is the price of the base model of the Redmi 8 wth 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The top-end model 4GB + 64GB Redmi 8 variant is priced at Rs 8,999. As a special offer for selling 100 million smartphones over the past 5 years, Xiaomi will offer the first 5 million units of the Redmi 8 4GB + 64GB variant at Rs 7,999.
The Redmi 8 goes on sale for the first time in India on October 12 at 12am on Mi.com, Mi Home and Flipkart. The Redmi 8 comes in two colours Sapphire Blue and Ruby Red colours.
